Founded in 1955 by Donat Mongrain, Mongrain is the first Quebec company to specialize in thermal insulation. Initially focused on protecting walls, the company developed its expertise over time to include insulation of all kinds, including waterproofing, fireproofing of the building and other related services.
Donat Mongrain then hands over the business’ reins to his son, Raymond Mongrain, and the company is increasingly establishing itself as a leading player in the industry.
Then, in 1995, Karl Mongrain took over at the helm of a third generation of experts. Following the acquisition of various comparable companies, Mongrain continues to expand and is entrusted with projects by large firms such as Hydro-Québec, SNC-Lavalin, Pomerleau, Aluminerie Alouette, QIT fer et titane and many others.
In 2005, Mongrain received the Energia award in the Building envelope category. In 2019, the company moves its headquarters to Mirabel. The same year, it received a recognition award as a mentor at the Soirée des Grands Bâtisseurs. The company was also a finalist at the 2019 Salon des meilleures pratiques d’affaires (Best Business Practices Show).

In order to ensure the well-being of employees and consolidate the commitment of team members, Mongrain moved its head office to Mirabel in September 2019, in green facilities called the Mongrain Campus.
Designed to maximize occupant satisfaction, this bright and stimulating work environment incorporates the latest technology in ergonomics, and has an equestrian center, trails, a pond, a collective garden as well as a training center. In addition, a passive building being designed will be completely disconnected from the electricity supply services.
